This Week’s Mix at 6 — 80s Soul Legacy

Over 30's Daytime Disco House - Coming to Torquay, Venue to be announced.

This week, Cosmic Voyages heads back to an era where we’re celebrating the legacy of 80s soul, boogie and funk, bringing together some truly iconic voices with a selection of fresh disco house edits and extended reworks.

Expect the unmistakable sounds of Loose Ends, Fatback Band, Cherrelle & Alexander O’Neal, SOS Band, Narada Michael Walden, Will Downing, James Ingram, Stevie Wonder and Luther Vandross, alongside Carl Carlton, Change, The Spinners and more.

And because this is Cosmic Voyages, we haven't simply raided the record box. These classic treasures are given a new lease of life with reworks from Dr Packer, Folamour, Ian Ossia, Freemasons and more, taking those soulful foundations and giving them some serious 21st-century production.

From “Hanging On A String” and “Saturday Love” to “I Found Lovin’,” “A Love Supreme” and Luther's “Shine”, this is over 90 minutes of soul, funk, boogie and disco-house.

Oh, and we almost forgot… listen out for one of those “I didn’t know that!” moments as we head Back to the Source and uncover the original soul track behind Yazz’s huge 1988 hit “The Only Way Is Up.”

You might know every word of the 80s classic… but did you know where it came from?

Turn it up… your Friday Mix at 6 has landed. 🚀
